About From the Ashes
From the Ashes Women's Recovery House exists to provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment where women in recovery can rebuild their lives with dignity, accountability, and purpose. Our mission is to empower women rising from addiction, trauma, incarceration, and life’s hardships by providing stable housing, recovery support, life-skills development, and a strong community rooted in honesty, responsibility, and personal growth.

Our Inspiration
From the Ashes was inspired by our own journeys in recovery and the women we met along the way who needed more than just a place to stay—they needed structure, support, and people who truly understood what they were going through. Kristin and I have both seen firsthand how many women want to change their lives but don’t always have a safe environment, accountability, or the right kind of support to help them do it.
We started From the Ashes because we believe women deserve a real chance to rebuild their lives. Too many women leave treatment or difficult situations and end up right back in the same environments that led them there in the first place. We wanted to create a home where women could focus on recovery, develop life skills, build confidence, and surround themselves with a community that supports their growth. Personally, From the Ashes means purpose. It represents the belief that no matter how far someone has fallen, they can rise again. Just like the phoenix, it symbolizes triumph.

Our Community's Goals
When a woman becomes part of the From the Ashes community, we want her to first feel safe, supported, and understood. Many women come to us feeling broken, ashamed, or unsure of themselves. Our goal is for them to quickly realize they are not alone and that they are surrounded by women who genuinely want to see them succeed.
We want women to gain confidence, stability, and a strong foundation in recovery. Through structure, peer support, recovery meetings, devotions, and accountability, women begin to rebuild trust in themselves and in others. They learn how to make healthy decisions, develop life skills, maintain employment, and take responsibility for their future. Just as important, we want women to gain a sense of belonging and purpose. Recovery can feel lonely at times, but at From the Ashes we build a community where women encourage each other, celebrate progress, and hold one another accountable. Ultimately, we want every woman who comes through our doors to leave knowing she is capable of building a brighter future.

Our Leaders
The success of From the Ashes Women’s Recovery House is built on the dedication and passion of the people who lead and support the program.
At the center are founders Tina Gentry and Kristin Miles, who share a deep commitment to helping women rebuild their lives. Both women bring lived experience, compassion, and leadership to the program. They are passionate about creating a safe, structured environment where women can focus on recovery, build life skills, and rediscover their purpose. Their vision is to provide more than housing — they want to build a supportive community where women can grow, heal, and rise above their past.
Another key part of the program’s success is the women living in the home themselves. Residents play an important role by supporting one another through peer accountability, encouragement, and shared recovery experiences. The sisterhood that forms within the home creates an environment where women feel understood, supported, and motivated to keep moving forward.
"We have seen women come through the doors with nothing but a small bag of clothes, overwhelmed by everything they have lost—relationships, stability, confidence, and sometimes even hope. Over time, with structure, peer support, meetings, devotion, and accountability, something begins to shift."
Our Residents' Journey
A Story of Transformation
One of the most powerful moments we see at From the Ashes is when a woman who first arrived feeling defeated begins to believe in herself again. We have seen women come through the doors with nothing but a small bag of clothes, overwhelmed by everything they have lost—relationships, stability, confidence, and sometimes even hope. In the beginning, many are unsure if they can really change or if recovery will work for them. Over time, with structure, peer support, meetings, devotion, and accountability, something begins to shift. A woman who once doubted herself starts showing up for meetings, getting a job, paying her program fees, and encouraging the next woman who walks through the door. One moment that truly captures what From the Ashes is about is seeing a woman reach milestones she once thought were impossible—getting her driver’s license back, maintaining employment, rebuilding relationships with her family, or graduating the program after months of hard work.
